MasterCard Named 'Top Brand' in Argentina

MasterCard International was recently named by the Infobrand: Top Brands in Argentina. The publication cited MasterCard... "because the company has a clear message and a flexible advertising concept that adjusts to all markets." The editors point out that the 15 most-voted brands are not arranged by the number of votes but in alphabetical order. MasterCard shared the spotlight with such global brands as Coca-Cola, Adidas, Nike and Sony.

Infobrand editors surveyed industry professionals from Córdoba, Mendoza and Buenos Aires and asked them to identify brands they valued and considered to be the best in the country. (Infobrand is a marketing, branding and communications publication)

Royal Pets???

Last week, my friends and I were exchanging our thoughts about our observation on dogs in foreign country. Before I explain further, here's a snapshot:

KLF: "... 2nd thing was with the culture of Germans bringing their dogs everywhere they go: along the street and surprisingly to shopping malls. My gosh...... and the wonderful thing is their dogs will not bark at all. I wonder what is the purpose of having a dog in Europe... and and i even saw some stalls selling wurst (sausage) for dogs..."

TLC: "When I came here (Germany), I was also thinking the dogs here are useless... they don't bark... don't bite... don't lick... bla bla bla. Like zombie!!"

Emily... a.k.a. myself: "Talking abt dogs... in USA, dogs have a room to themselves, kay? Can u imagine it? When people build a house, they usually renovate a room for the dog as well... plus... the owner bathe their dogs in the bathtub!!! My personal opinion, thats kinda gross..... and BTW, if you knock down any animal, you will be sued by the animal rights movement. So, its not a surprising thing to see a long line of cars waiting for a duck to cross the road. Hehehe....."

Just so you understand our reactions above, we Malaysians, are not accustomed to such royal treatment of our pets. While we do love our pets just as much, most of us treat them like animal... with freedom. Our pets usually sleep outdoors (winter freeze is no problem in Malaysia), shower outside in our gardens, and usually a let free to roam around the neighbourhood.

I guess one obvious reason for the difference... Malaysia is still a developing economy and even an average earning family would have less spending $$ compared to families in developed countries like USA and Germany. So, any extra spending $$ would be used to improve the lives of children and family first before spending on our beloved pets!

Just my opinion.... feel free to comment! ;o)
