Detroit Auto Show

I flew back from the Detroit, Michigan with Jack, Daniel (Brazil) and Emir (Tunisia) where we attended the North America International Auto Show. According to the enthusiastic guys... this is the BIGGEST auto show in the world. We decided to go at the very last minute.... one week before! Got a great last minute deal... and no regrets! How can I NOT go? ;o)

The auto exhibition was indeed HUGE. I had to step out for a break after 3 hours in the exhibition hall. My favourite exhibition was Dodge and JEEP. Other equally memorable exhibitions was Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Ford, and GMC. There were many concept cars that were so creative! Some looked quite ugly, but the ideas are very good. Many manufacturers like GMC displayed environment-friendly cars with the hydrogen powered car AND the cell powered car.

At Detroit, we also visited the Motown Winter Blast that was held at downtown Detroit. We saw ice sculpture, snow sculpture, ice-skating, dog-sledding and there was also a huge slide as well. The whole event was sponsored by GM, and it was very fun! The down side is... it was VERY COLD. On our first night, it was -15 celcius, man! Daniel and I was SUFFERRING!!!! We were so cold we couldn't feel our fingers, toes, cheeks and nose!

The next morning... the drive to downtown was horrifying~~~ the car kept 'skating' and we were so afraid that the car will spin and cause an accident. Jack was driving at 30 mph only! At downtown, we went to the riverside that overlooks Windsor, Canada. It was beautiful, but we were WADING through 12.2 inches of snow! The snow was knee high.... it was cold, but we had a lot of fun playing with the snow!

All in all, this was a GREAT trip! I love the company... Jack, Emir and Daniel was awesome and so goofy!

Winter Driving Hazards!!!

First things first... Driving in the winter is SCARY! Especially when it snows. Living in Malaysia where EVERYDAY is summer... I never knew that driving in the winter is so hazardous.

First time, it was snowing so heavily that we only had visibility of 5 feet. We didn't know that when it snow, DON'T USE THE BRAKES!!! Our car skidded and it was so scary! Fortunately, we were able to gain back the control of the car and did not swing into other cars....

Today, as we exit from Mastercard and make a left turn, we nearly drove right OFF A CLIFF!!! As our car turned left, the road was totally covered by snow, and the wheels started skidding. I was screaming and flailing my hands everywhere! (Of course they made fun about my reaction later! ;p) About ONE FEET from the cliff, the car MIRACULOUSLY stopped! Thank goodness.............. thats lucky two times!

No more 3rd time, please!

Ice Skating

For the first time, I went ice-skating and I enjoyed it so much!! =D Initially, I dreaded the idea of staying outdoors at -15 Celsius... much less, ice skating in that temperature. I went anyway due to peer pressure... ;o)

From the moment we arrived at the outdoor rink at Forrest Park, I took 15 minutes to convince myself to purchase the ticket and put on the shoes... My first step on the ice put me in a state of near panic! I was terrified of landing on my butt in an ungraceful heap. However, after taking a look around, I saw that many people were learning and falling everywhere... and they looked like they were having fun!

I started from holding on to dear life at the iron rail... to 'walking' on ice... to finally getting my balance. Thanks to Jack, I finally graduated after 1.5 hours to the 'Able-To-Balance-BUT-Yet-To-Skate' stage. Hehehe....;o)

The HIGHLIGHT of the day was when a group of friends crashed into me while I was doing my 'solo-walk' along the ice. We fell like bowling pins, or dominoes... and MY BUTT HURT BIG TIME!!!!!! That was so fun! We were laughing in the midst of their apologies. =D

This is GREAT exercise and FUN... boy, do I need the exercise! ;o)
